Courtesy of Tasmanian artist Gary Chaloner, who just posted the announcement on the Official REH Forum: Howard’s western character from Bear Creek, Breckinridge Elkins, will soon have his own webcomic!
“Mountain Man” is the first in the series, adapted and illustrated by Gary Chaloner himself and colored by Cayetano Garza.
AL ADDS: This is very exciting news. Despite only accounting for a sixth or so of his œuvre, Sword-and-Sorcery dominates public perspective on Robert E. Howard. Some of the finest examples of the genre, of course, but it can often blind people to his historicals, horrors, and westerns. Compare the discussion of “Vultures,” the upcoming adaptation of “Vultures of Wahpeton,” to the hubbub around the upcoming Conan, Kull and Solomon Kane films. This could be a fantastic introduction to all those who dismiss Howard as overly concerned with doom and gloom, or just the casual fan who knows him primarily as “the Conan guy,” and show he was more than capable of a lighter touch than his dark, brooding fantasy.
